In Game of Thrones Season 3, Author George R R Martin to Come

George R.R. Martin is stepping in front of the cameras for "Game of Thrones" Season 3

Co-creator & show-runner of the Game of ThronesDavid Benioff, has announced that the author of the fantasy novels will make a cameo in the third season of the TV series based on his saga. It was not revealed which part he will play. The "Game of Thrones" author will have a cameo in Season 3, but executive producer David Benioff did not confirm the role to Deadline. This isn't the first time Martin filmed a cameo. The author filmed one for the pilot and also explored having his head on a spike, but both those options were quashed earlier in the show's history.

There is nothing new in having producers and creators cameo in their own shows.
  • Both Marti Noxon and David Fury, producers on the Joss Whedon series, had singing cameo parts in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" musical episode "Once More with Feeling,".
  • Whedon has appeared in "Firefly" and "Angel."
  • Larry David regularly did voice work on "Seinfeld,"
  • "Lost" executive producer Carlton Cuse also did voice cameos on his series, and
  • in the series finale of "Battlestar Galactica," executive producer Ron Moore appeared reading a magazine.

Game Of Thrones will be back on HBO on 31 March with a third season once again focusing on the fight between the various royal families to get the much sought-after Iron Throne.

The next 10 episodes will be energized by the arrival of 14 new characters. 'King-Beyond-the-Wall', Mance Rayder will be among them. Coldplay drummer Will Champion will also be joining the cast.
