Former world number one golfer Tiger Woods and US Olympic skiing champion Lindsey are dating

The couple made the announcement on their Facebook pages, posting the first pictures of themselves together. If there is one thing Tiger Woods is great at, it's golf. If there is one other thing, it's keeping his private life extremely private.

It comes after several weeks of speculation about their relationship.

"I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods,"

Lindsey Vonn said in a Twitter posting and a longer statement on her Facebook page that included pictures of the couple. Mr Woods was previously married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren, but they divorced in 2010 after he revealed a series of extramarital affairs. The 37-year-old has since begun to rebuild his golfing career, and is showing signs of returning to the form that allowed him to dominate world golf for a decade. Woods rarely discusses his private life, and the announcement and pictures may be a way of preventing the paparazzi from pursuing the couple in pursuit of a lucrative first photograph.

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn's Relationship Evolved from friendship

Woods wrote on his Facebook page:

"Something nice that's happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating."

Lindsey Vonn said:

"Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy. I don't plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends. Thank you for understanding and your continued support!"

Ms Vonn, 28, is regarded as one of the premier skier of her generation, having won gold at the 2010 winter Olympics and several world championships. Her season was recently cut short by a knee injury, however. Woods posted a Twitter message that said, "Just posted some pictures of @Lindseyvonn and me on Facebook" and wrote his own statement revealing his relationship with Vonn on his Facebook page. Tiger Woods said:

"This season has been great so far and I'm happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral,". "We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes."

Lindsey is recovering from right knee surgery after suffering a huge crash last month that ended her season.

Tiger Woods, 14 time major golf champion, was previously married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren. But they divorced because of the infamous sex scandal of Woods in 2010. They share custody of their two children. The Swedish beauty, 33, has since hooked up with coal magnate Chris Cline, who is reported to be worth $1.2billion. Lindsey Vonn's divorce from Thomas Vonn after more than four years of marriage became official in January.   Rory McIlroy starts dating a famous tennis player and now Tiger snags an Olympian.
