Honda CBR600RR is Updated for 2013
Finally, Honda updated the CBR600RR this year. This update was long awaited. Already so many awards have been won by the bike and this has always been on the top of the list for prospective buyers as it holds Honda's core values, superb performance and easy to ride characteristics. Firstly, the CBR600RR was launched by Honda in 2003 which featured unit pro link suspension and various other race technologies, which were adopted from their MotoGP bike.
2013 Honda CBR600RR Specifications and Features
A list of comprehensive updates are made on the 2013 Honda CBR600RR, such as the new front cowl which has a sharp and slanted look. Compared to earlier, the wind screen is smaller and the cowl is slightly higher. The aerodynamic supremacy does not end here; the headlights are angled towards the inside for a better air intake for the RAM air duct. It looks like that the CBR600RR has the same drag efficiency as the MotoGP bike, which says a lot. The riding position is more involving which gives you more confidence while cornering. The front fairing panel and the tail piece have been redesigned for aerodynamic purpose as well to emit heat away from the rider.
Dynamically, the CBR600RR gets a host of changes as well. It gets an easy to adjust 41 mm Showa big piston inverted fork at the front, while the unit pro link rear suspension has a new damper for better on road performance. Mass centralization has been improved to lend the CBR600RR more agility. The CBR600RR also gets 12-spoke aluminium wheels which further aids the dynamics and help lower the weight. The improved ram-air intake duct and the improved fuelling from the Denso 12 hole injector and the updated PGM-DSFI system deliver more power in the-mid range and high RPM range and also enhance throttle response by adding 40 mm throttle bodies.
The Honda CBR600RR is powered by a 599cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve engine which is mated to a six-speed close ratio gearbox. This machine produces 118 BHP of power but is quite fast owing to its light weight. This motorcycle is not going to launch soon in India as these bikes come as CBU units and will turn out to be very expensive because of the recently exercised excise duty on imported bikes which makes it even more expensive and not a great value. If launched in India, the Honda CBR600RR will easily be priced around the Rs. 10 lakh mark.Press Release - Honda CBR600RR
The lineage behind the CBR600RR boasts ongoing track-tested, championship-winning advancements in form and function that have kept this machine at the forefront of the 600cc Supersport class. The newly redesigned CBR600RR delivers stronger engine output for an elevated level of performance, a brand-new front suspension featuring Honda's 41mm Big Piston Fork for exceptional handling and supple action, plus all-new MotoGP-inspired bodywork that's a product of race-tested aerodynamic design. It all adds up to a sportbike that leads the way, whether it's at the track or just a fun afternoon ride on your favorite backroads.
Honda CBR600RR - New for 2013
- Redesigned, centrally located ram-air intake system and improved ECU and PGM-DSFI setting deliver more power in the midrange and enhanced throttle response in the high-rpm range.
- New 41mm Show a Big Piston Fork (BPF) which features a larger damper piston that generates damping forces at lower internal pressures to allow for smoother and more responsive fork action. Adjustable for spring preload plus compression and rebound damping adjustability.
- Unit Pro-Link® rear suspension features a revised shock with new damper settings for improved overall performance.
- Using knowledge gained from the Honda RC212V MotoGP race program, aerodynamic improvements were made to newest CBR600RR, which shows a 6.5 percent decrease in drag over the previous one. The development and testing used with this all-new CBR600RR bodywork led to aerodynamic advancements that have been incorporated into the current RC213V MotoGP racing machine.
- The Aerodynamic efficiency, which is newly found, lends itself to more agile handling and improved wind deflection for enhanced rider comfort.
- Repsol Edition racing colors are available on the CBR600RR (standard model only), for the very first time.
- Standard models are available in Red, Repsol Edition or White/Blue/Red.
- C-ABS model available in Red only.
