Google Search Quality Rating Guidelines For First Time For Public

Google is not known for offering much info about its search engine. In fact, it's renowned for its secrecy. The new "How Search Works" websites aims to change that, in more ways than one.

As part of the How Search Works interactive infographic, which Google released today, they have decided to publish their search quality rating guidelines publicly for the first time. You can read the 43-page PDF document here. It was most recently updated on November 2, 2012. This is the document which Google's Search Quality Raters use to rank Google's Search Results. This document released for public is actually the edited version (43 pages) of the previous one (161 pages).

You might remember, a request was leaked back in 2008, 2001, 2012 and other times, when finally they said they were considering going public with that document. Today, they have. Search quality raters are third-party people whom Google hires via a third-party to rate the search results. It is not used to rank search results, rather, to measure the quality of the results.
