X-Men: Days Of Future Past has added some international flavour to its cast, with the announcement that The Intouchables star Omar Sy has agreed to join the production.
Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to welcome French thespian Omar Sy into the mutant fold: He didn't go on to confirm just who Sy will be playing, but given the film's time-travelling storyline, speculation is rife that he's been brought in to play Bishop, the militant son of a pair of Aborigine mutant refugees. The character made his debut in the same issue of Uncanny X-Men that Days Of Future Past is taken from, which leads us to believe that the guess might be a good one. Omar Sy is probably most famous for staring in the 2011 French comedy-drama THE INTOUCHABLES (also known as UNTOUCHABLE) that Singer mentions in his tweet. The film was a huge hit overseas (over $400 million) and an American remake is in the works. X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will be Omar Sy's first English-language role, however who he will be playing in the film has not been released at this time. Although with X-Men and a story about time travel, there a few key characters that come to mind, including of course, Bishop. Bishop, a time-travelling mutant from a future where mutants are held captive in concentration camps, doesn't have a French accent, but Singer and Fox have proven that's not a factor in casting characters. Just look at the non-Australian Pyro, the non-Cajun Gambit, the non-Russian Colossus and the non-Irish Banshee. Bryan Singer will be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past with following returning stars:- Jennifer Lawrence,
- Michael Fassbender,
- James McAvoy,
- Nicholas Hoult,
- Patrick Stewart,
- Ian McKellen,
- Hugh Jackman,
- Anna Paquin,
- Ellen Page,
- Shawn Ashmore,
- Halle Berry and possibly,
- Alan Cumming.
