Delhi child r@pe case: Kumar arrested in Bihar

  • A five-year-old girl [Devi] r@ped allegedly by a neighbour after holding her captive for four days is battling for life after she contracted infection from foreign objects inserted into her body.

  • The girl, who was missing for the past four days, was rescued from the ground floor of the building where her family was staying. The neighbour fled the spot.
  • Delhi police have registered a case & slapped charges of attempt to murder & r@pe among other things on Kumar, who allegedly confined the girl in his room for at least two days.
  • The victim, whom the doctors claimed was undernourished & weighing 20kg, was shifted to AIIMS from Swami Dayanand Hospital for treatment. She underwent a surgery at the Swami Dayanand hospital for removing foreign objects from her body.
  • The victim is being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS] & is stable & conscious but doctors said that the next 48 hours will be crucial for her.
  • Manoj Kumar was arrested from Chiknouta, his in-law's village, at around 2 am from here in Bihar,50 kms from Patna. The youth was arrested by a team from Delhi with the help of local police.
  • The accused, who has come here by a train from Delhi, was traced after tracking his mobile phone location, police sources said.
  • Manoj Kumar was produced in the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Muzaffarpur & will be returned to Delhi after 3 days transit remand.
