Paris Brown resigned as Kent's youth and police crime commissioner after her offensive Tweets were unearthed
The country's first Youth Crime Commissioner, Paris Brown, resigned from her post for digging ill advised tweets she posted sometime ago. It is perhaps the bad but inevitable end of a lifetime for the young teenager from Kent. The comments about Paris as a 'racist' and a 'homophobe' and guilty of 'hate speech' may have sunk into the consciousness of many of those who have not properly analysed the offending tweets of hers. Some may have found worst misadvised, immature posts and inappropriate words straight from the mind of a silly, careless 14 years old girl who could not have known at the time what the future had in store for her, possibly.Tweets of Paris Brown
"Who's Mrs Thatcher?" None of my daughters – who are aged between 11 and 21 – has actually said that today, but I wouldn't have been surprised if they had. None of them engages much with the democratic process. None of them pays much attention to the news.Paris Brown Apologized
"I accept that I have made comments on social networking sites which have offended many people and I am really, truly sorry for any offence that has been caused … I have fallen into the trap of behaving with bravado on social networking sites. I hope that this stands as a learning experience for many other young people", Paris said. Following is a video on a satirical news site which discusses by 2040 how every presidential candidate in the US will be considered as not electable due to embarrassing FB posts from their past. Though a parody, similar has happened to Paris Brown, some immature and embarrasing tweets from her past has caused her to lose her job just days into her appointment. All should learn lessons from this whole incident to assure so that it would not happen again in future. Procedures of Kent Police, now onwards should include the vetting of all candidates's social profiles to assure such incidents don't happen at a later stage in future. Accoding to statement of Ann Barnes, The Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent they have used Kent Police's vetting procedure which don't includes scrutiny of social networks for this type of grade of post. It should alter now onwards so that predatory outlets be avoided for easy ammunition to destroy the reputation of anyone who is in public arena. Due to the tweets which she had written when she was 14, she has dragged her reputation through the dirt. The role of a lifetime is sacrified by the untenability of her position. Kent Police has been left embarassed due to happening of the whole affair in the first place. Paris stated that she hope that this affair may stand as a learning experience for many other young persons.Lesson from Paris Brown's Incident
Today's society is a society in which online conduct is just as important as real life conduct. Teenagers should listen wisely to her words as she knows all too well it's like to have your real-life reputation of today destroyed by your online personality of the past because she is the Britain's first high profile social media martyr. If she has the insight, she will rethink her prejudices, recognise their senselessness and be the ambassador for young women she still has the potential to be.Read more...
