Ek Thi Daayan Story & Review
This movie is the story of a famous Indian magician named Bobo (Emraan Hashmi) who was quite successful in his career but had a dark and spooky childhood. Bobo grows up reading stories of witches and witchcraft and unknowingly his fascination towards his belief turns into his mental disorder. Things got worst when Bobo's widower father marries again to a lady Diana (Konkana Sen Sharma). Bobo consider his step-mother a daayan (witch). The story has been integrated very nicely in major parts that will leave you nail biting with a spine chilling blend of black magic, occult and suspense. You will also find some great romantic sequences in the film that is a trademark of Emraan. Moreover, the most horrifying part of the movie is the climax, though little common but still cleverly described. But just when you start to relax and flow with the emotions, along comes a scary twist that jolts you back to the edge of your seat. The climax is a bit stereotype of horror/supernatural thrillers but that's a minor hiccup in an otherwise cleverly done film of this genre.Ek Thi Daayan Performances
Emraan Hashmi is excellent in his part and marks his strong presence instead of three female actresses in the film. Konkona Sen Sharma is as usual amazing and superb as a Daayan. Emraan delivered a stellar performance as a haunted terribly by the menacing past magician. Huma Qureshi is less impressive in this one than her first two outings – Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. Kalki Koechlin has justified her part well and Pawan Malhotra as Hashmi's father is memorable. A special mention here for the curly haired Vishesh Tiwari who nails it as the young Bobo. The most outstanding and in so many ways the redeeming feature of this film is Konkona Sen Sharma. What an actress is she? Bravo, hats off to her. She is scarily bewitching in her role as she appears on the scene. As for the performances, Konkona Sen Sharma simply steals the show. She portrays the complex and layered character through her expressive eyes with amazing effortlessness. Those subtle, ever-shifting micro-emotions on her face are difficult to read.Ek Thi Daayan Review Critics
Critics have appreciated the storyline and actors performances. Emraan Hashmi's role has been particularly commended. So, watch out this one to thrill yourself with some supernatural and paranormal activities that will certainly help you create your own insight whether Daayan exists or its just an illusion. Note: You may not like the film if transcendental stuff doesn't move you.Read more...
