Following the introduction of the hugely popular 2013 model year Range Rover, Land Rover has already announced the 2014 model. With the new model Land Rover has introduced a new smaller displacement engine that will offer higher fuel efficiency, while maintaining performance. All-new 2013 Range Rover saw some impressive changes with a complete redesign that also reduced weight by 420Kgs, as compared to the outgoing model. The sales has been impressive for the new Range Rover, the waiting list is so long that Land Rover can't handle it. Now an 15-page booklet worth of changes coming for the 2014 model year is leaked. With the new Range Rover car, the automaker has replaced the naturally aspirated 5-liter V8 engine with a new supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine. Specifically introduced keeping in mind emerging markets such as India, the V6 will deliver 340hp at 6,500rpm and 332lb-ft of peak torque between 3,500 to 5000 rpm. The supercharged V6 will power the Range Rover from a standstill from to 60 mph (96km/h) in about 7.1 seconds. Land Rover will continue to offer the 510 HP supercharged V8 engines. Both engines will be offered with an eight-speed ZF 8HP70 automatic transmission. Land Rover says, the new supercharged 3.0 liter V6 produces 15 percent less emission compared to the naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8. The 2014 Range Rover has a carbon emission figure of 254g/km and the luxury SUV will deliver a mileage of 7.65 km/l. CO2 emissions have also shrunk by an impressive 22 percent. While mostly similar to the model it will replace, the new Range Rover will come with Land Rover's Intelligent Stop/Start system to further boost fuel efficiency.

Land Rover said, "Spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) delivers precise quantities of fuel directly into the combustion chambers at pressures of up to 150bar (2175PSI). The fuel is injected in a matter of milliseconds several times during each combustion cycle, creating a more homogenous air-fuel mixture for cleaner and more efficient combustion. A high compression ratio of 10.5:1 further improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions." Land Rover will not be launching the 3.0L V6 petrol option in the UK. They say the new 3.0L V6 2014 Range Rover option is for emerging markets, including India. Land Rover India will launch the 2014 Range Rover with the new petrol V6 in India by second half of 2013. As far as change/upgrades are concerned, the 2014 model will not be any different than the 2013 model. Transmission will be taken care by the same eight-speed ZF 8HP70 that features in the 2013 model. Land Rover says, "The new engine has been engineered to support the full breadth of capability expected from a Range Rover, including extreme off-road tilt angles up to 45 degrees, wading depth of nearly 36 inches (900mm) and towing weight up to 7,716 lbs (3,500kg)."
